MODEL 851 Calibrated Investigator’s Aid
For Detection of Hydrocarbons, Petroleum Volatiles and Gas

Model 851 is a precision instrument designed specifically for detecting petroleum volatiles/
hydrocarbons and natural gas.

Model 851 incorporates advanced signal processing techniques in combination with a ruggedly constructed
detector to bring you one the most advanced survey tool available.

A Solid State Sensor is a plug-in type housed in a protective cone mounted at the tip of a telescopic- probe (18” retracted 46” extended), providing a
reasonable distance from suspect toxic material.

Model 851 Features two modes of operation:
1. High sensitivity search mode for locating very
small gas leaks and calibrated mode of operation that indicates 0% of the lower explosive limit (LEL), methane used as the test gas.

2. General purpose survey tool while walking an area of concern (use like a walking cane). This is useful as a survey tool for detecting leaking underground storage tanks (LUST) or gasoline leaks that have seeped into sewer lines.
